About the Blog

Hallyu Interview was created in December 2012 as a site to focus on interview translations. After spending a year on tumblr running Yeoshindeul, which is a site dedicated to translating news and interviews, Seultoria sought a better platform and to create a more unique site. Many sites exist for translating news, netizen comments, and other various topics regarding Korean entertainment, but none focus on interview translations. Interviews allow fans to see insights to what their favorite celebrity is like without relying on biased news reporters or hate-mongering netizens.

The interviews translated are ones the editors found interesting. Hallyu Interview isn’t concerned with being the fastest to get news out there or to translate an interview for click-baiting reasons. The site serves as an “archive,” housing many interesting interviews, whether the interviews are recent when the translations are posted or old and outdated.

About Seultoria

I’m a fan of Asian dramas, and probably one of the few male ones. Maybe most of the male fans are just silent and just watch them without participating on forums. I have been watching Korean and Japanese dramas since 2009 and started watching Taiwanese dramas in 2013. While many deride Asian dramas because they’re not like American TV shows, I watch them for that specific reason. I enjoy American TV shows, so if I wanted something to be like an American show…I’d go watch an American show. I like how different cultures approach telling a story.

If you haven’t noticed, I mainly translate interviews about my favorite actresses while also interviewing interviews from other actresses that I like and translate what was requested. My favorite Korean actresses are Han Ye Seul and Han Ji Min. My favorite Japanese actresses are Toda Erika and Horikita Maki. My favorite Taiwanese actresses are Annie Chen (Chen Ting Ni) and Puff Guo (Guo Xue Fu).

    Hello, there!
Could you possibly translate the 100 q&a from Maki’s recent photobook Dramatic?
I could send you the HQ scans from here:

Yes, but it will take a while, so I’ll have to post the interview in parts.

    Hello ~
Could you please translate this interview: http://staraz.co.kr/front/article/view.asp?idx=490&GrpID=01&CateBID=03&row= ? I really enjoy your recent translation of IU’s interview on ELLE and I’d like to read more posts like that. : )

Hey, sorry I’m bothering you again :”) I just happen to know that IU’s featured on Elle December issue. There are scans here: http://i3.minus.com/ibvLRmK2I4veEi.jpg ; http://i6.minus.com/iDAT3mkmSAsvj.jpg . One is an ad for Saem I guess? And in the other one she answers some questions. Could you please putting them together as an article? :”) :”)

I always wait until it becomes available on Elle’s website to translate. I usually don’t translate from scans because of how much longer it takes to do it.

Ah yeah, it sounds more reasonable : D I will try to very patiently wait for it then. :”)

is there any chance for you to translate interviews with male actors?

    • therealcz January 5, 2014 at 11:20 am #

Yeah, if there are requests, but I normally don’t go out of my way to translate male actor interviews. This is mainly a hobby for me, so I mainly translate actress interviews because that’s who I like more.

I don’t translate audio. It’s way too time consuming.

      • Princess Candymiley October 12, 2014 at 5:56 am #

oh ok… But did you know where can I find that audio with subtitle? I really can’t understand it.. I want to understand because Im really curious =) =)
Thank you by the way for the reply.

      • therealcz October 12, 2014 at 9:38 am #

No idea. 99.999% of the time, things like this aren’t subtitled unless there’s a dedicated fansite doing translations.
